brittala's Show SkinsThis is a featured page

Skins is a series on BBCAmerica on Sundays at 7pm with an encore at 9pm.The cast from Skins

Why Skins?
I chose skins because it holds my attention. I am actually excited for Sunday to come because that means I get to watch "my" show. I tell my three roommates that the t.v. is mine for the next two hours (I like to watch the previous weeks show before the new one). I just like how down to earth and real it seems. It's about regular teenagers, not rich and out of this world like many of the shows we have here in the U.S. This is just "real". I really enjoy it. However I would warn that it is indeed intended for mature audiences.

Discussion Board: If anyone is interested here is the link to the Skins discussion board.

Tony: Nicholas Hoult

Tony is the leader of the group. He is also a bit of an a##hole. He is also a bit of a ladies man and that fact that he has a girlfriend(Michelle) it doesn't phase him.
Nicholas Hoult as Tony
Sid: Mike Bailey

Sid is Tony's best friend. He however is nothing like him. I guess the saying opposites attract really fits with these two. Sid has a little more heart and understanding for people. He however is in love with Michelle, but at the same time has feelings for Cassie.
Mike Bailey as Sid
Michelle: April Pearson

Michelle is Tony's girlfriend and Sid's dream girl. She is also the pretty and rich girl of the group. Her best friend is Jal.
April Pearson as Michelle
Cassie: Hannah Murray

Cassie is sort of the outsider of the group. She has alot of her own problems but always plays them off when she is around everyone else. She has feelings for Sid, but knows he is in love with Michelle.
Hannah Murray as Cassie
Chris: Joseph Dempsie

Chris is everyone's friend. He is the person you go to if you need party favors. He much like Cassie has a few problems but never pays much attention to them. He also has a think for his teacher.
Joseph Dempsie as Chris
Anwar: Dev Patel

Anwar is Maxxie's best friend. He is the odd ball of the group. He is always there to make someone laugh.
Dav Patel as Anwar
Jal: Larissa Wilson

Jal is Michelle's best friend. But much like Tony and Sid is nothing like her. She is the listener.
Larissa Wilson as Jal
Maxxie: Mitch Hewer

Maxxie is Anwar's best friend. He is also gay. Here and there in the show the guys will make cracks at him but all in all he is there for everyone.
Mitch Hewer as Maxxie
Single Episode Narrative Analysis.
Embracing My Show.
I usually watch my show on the t.v. It is just easier for me that way. I am able to see it clearly without having to watch it on a tiny screen. Also I am able to put the volume up so that it is all that I hear. It also also my roommates to watch it with me. So to change it up I watched it on my laptop. The problem I had was not being able to see it like you can on a TV. Also I wasn't really able to just lay back and be comfortable. I had to sit up the whole time with my laptop on my lap the whole time. Also there were so many other things going on it was hard to hear and with a show in an accent it can be frustrating. Also people would come and go over my shoulder to see what I was watching. All in all it was a very good experience to have because I know how greatful I am to be able to watch it on the t.v. I would watch on my laptop if say I was going on a trip. But just to watch it regularly I wouldn't. It's not really my thing.
Contextual Analisys.
While wachting a show on the BBCAmerica channel you would think to see maybe a few british commercials here or there, but you don't. It's all regular american commercials you see on any other channel. At times there are previews for other shows on that channel but mostly american advestising. Like for cleaning supplys or food. Maybe it's just me but I do find it strange that a foreign channel would not have any of it's one commercails. Though it is an americanized verison. So I guess it all makes sense in the end.
