Rescue Me

Rescue Me2

Why This Show
: Its a show that my buddies and I have really got interested in because its both very funny but can also be very serious. I am trying to get hired on a fire department and spend a lot of time at fire stations and its funny to see how this show portrays the brotherhood and loyalty crews have for each other, both while having fun and joking around but also during emergencies.

How/When/Where: I usually watch rescue me either with my friend David when we don’t have nothing else to do or when I just have some free time. It’s usually either at my house or this last weekend I watched it while out in the desert hunting on a laptop. It’s was interesting to watch tv on a laptop because the screen is smaller and especially in the desert cause its just so quite and not full of distractions.
My viewing habits are kind of random, meaning I have no set time or date that I watch the show so I tend to forget stuff from previous episodes that I tend to remember while watching the current episode I am watching.

I volunteer for Mesa Fire so being involved in station life and going on calls helps me to understand some of the underlying jokes and the understanding of the brotherhood that the guys have in station.
Sometimes we do watch the show at the station, but most guys have seen them all so we talk about episodes and sometimes joke about them during dinner or while out riding around or while on calls relating the ones we are on back to scenes from the show.Rescue Me1

Contextual Analysis

Rescue Me is shown on the channel FX which also has the shows Nip Tuck, Sons of Anarchy, the Shield along with many others. A lot of these shows from what I have seen can be both funny but have some intense drama and complicated storylines, but they all are generally very interesting to watch. A lot of the commercials on FX during the shows are commercials for other FX shows which lead me to believe like myself I do not just watch one show on FX but many. Another show I like to watch is Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I think it’s a very funny show and has a lot of great comedy but also good stories in each episode.
Mise-en-Scene Show:

Rescue Me Title: DNA In this episode Chief Riley continues to face consequences from his beating of a gay fireman who talked badly on behalf of some of the heroes who died on 9-11. Although Chief Riley did not start the fight or even know he was in a gay bar the other bar patrons are lying about what happened and trying to get the Chief in a lot more trouble. Franco also has his insane ex Nez show up and claim he is the father of there daughter which turns out to be true but no before Franco denies it and blows of the whole idea, which leads to Sean hooking up with her and finding out for himself just how insane this woman is. Tommy takes Sheila on a date and it ends unexpectedly and after Tommy’s crew is dispatched to a rollover MVA it turns out to be involving his daughter Colleen and the boy she was told not to go out with and while Tommy and Janet are in the hospital waiting to see if she will live they have a chance to get closer and hold to each other through this tough time.
